RESPONSE TO KOREA HYDRO & NUCLEAR POWER COMPANY, LTD LETTER REGARDING REVISING THE DURATION OF DESIGN CERTIFICATIONS
Dear Mr. Suh:
I am responding to your letter dated July 22, 2024, expressing Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.s support for a proposal that is before the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to extend the duration of NRC design certifications from 15 to 40 years in general and for all active design certifications at the time of the rulemaking (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML24206A254). You also expressed you would like for the NRC to consider a similar change for standard design approvals. Once the Commission issues direction on the proposal, the NRC staff will act accordingly.
