SUMMARY
OF MEETING BETWEEN THE U.S.
NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF AND THE TMI-2SOLUTIONS STAFF On July 30, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a meeting with representatives of TMI-2Solutions. The discussions focused on issuance of the Environmental Assessment for Specific Decommissioning Activities at Three Mile Island, Unit 2 (EA) and issuance schedule pertaining to Section 107(g)(1)(B) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as Amended (NEPA). The NRC staff presented background information on changes in regulations that necessitated the call, activities undertaken during the review (first of a kind review and development of a programmatic agreement) that lengthened the schedule and the anticipated issuance of the final EA by no later than August 31, 2024.
All participants agreed that issuance of the final EA in August 2024 was acceptable, and the review process had been successfully executed among the parties.
