No: IV-24-012 July 18, 2024 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Cody Sigel as the agency's new resident inspector at the Wolf Creek nuclear power plant in Burlington, Kansas. He joins senior resident inspector Chris Henderson at the plant, operated by Evergy and KEPCo.
Sigel has 13 years of experience working in U.S. Navy shipyards in test engineering, emergency response, and radiological controls. Before joining the NRC earlier this year, he served as the radiological engineering manager at a naval shipyard in Japan. Sigel holds a bachelors degree in civil engineering from Oregon State University.
Sigel has wide experience in a variety of important jobs from his service in the U.S. Navy, said NRC Region IV Administrator John Monninger. He has the kind of background and dedication to the NRC mission that will enable him to carefully monitor operations at Wolf Creek.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
