Dear Commission,
I humbly write to you today as a concerned citizen for our beloved Lake Michigan and the area I call home, Palisades Park. We our neighbors with the nuclear power plant by the same name.
Our communities commitment to preserving our critical dunes and the natural habitat define us. The nuclear power plant was closed and sold to a decommissioning company Holtec. Holtec, who is not in the Nuclear power plant business, now wants to reopen the plant for use. I urge you to to stringently establish guidelines for this and all future plants that may want to reopen. To consider the sustainability and stability of our Great Lakes and the inability of Holtec to safely reopen. We are counting on you to regulate the process and consider all the ramifications of an older, neglected and closed nuclear plant.
