SUBJECT:
U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REVIEW OF EXPORT LICENSE APPLICATION XB1365
Dear Mr. Vega Hos:
I am writing to update you on the status of your export license application XB1365. The application is currently under review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for the export of one source of Strontium-90 with a maximum total of 1.85 E-05 Terabecquerels (TBq) and one source of Carbon-14 with a maximum total of 5.92 E-08 TBq to Iraq. Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 110.40(d) states, in part, if the Commission has not completed action on a license application within 60 days after receipt of the Executive Branch (EB) judgement, the NRC is required to inform the applicant in writing of the reason for the delay.
The NRC received the final EB judgment on May 8, 2024, but additional time is needed for the NRC to complete its review of the export application.
You may contact Joanne Savoy, the licensing officer assigned to your case, at any time for additional information. Ms. Savoy may be reached via email at Joanne.Savoy@nrc.gov.
Sincerely, 7/9/2024 X Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst Signed by: PETER HABIGHORST Peter J. Habighorst, Chief Export Controls and Nonproliferation Branch Office of International Programs
