Rod L. Penfield -

By letter dated July 3, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Package No.

ML23184A081), Vistra Operations Company LLC (VistraOps), formally Energy Harbor Nuclear Corp.,

submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) an application for license renewal of Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPF-58, Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1 (Perry Plant) pursuant to Section 103 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and Part 54 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Requirements for renewal of operating licenses for nuclear power plants. During the week January 22, 2024, the NRC staff conducted a remote audit for Perry Plant as part of the license renewal application environmental review. The remote audit was supplemented by a site visit on February 1, 2024, and additional discussions before a formal exit conducted on February 8, 2024. Following the audit, on March 14, 2024, the NRC issued a series of requests for additional and confirmation of information, more commonly referred to as RAIs and RCIs (ML24064A217). However, after fully reviewing the information provided by VistraOps in response to the NRC staffs RAIs and RCIs (ML24107B080) and drafting the license renewal environmental impact statement, we realize that we still need some SAMA-related information to complete the document. Specifically, the NRC staff has identified a need for the information addressed in the attached RAI.

The schedule for your response to this RAI was discussed with Mark Bensi of your staff and a mutually agreeable date for the response is within 30 days from the date of this email. If you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail at Lance.Rakovan@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, Lance Lance J Rakovan, PMP Senior Environmental Project Manager Office of Nuclear Material Safety & Safeguards US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 (301) 415-2589 lance.rakovan@nrc.gov
