ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RECEIPT LETTER

Dear Jedidiah Kampen:

By letter dated June 11, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System

[ADAMS] Accession No. ML24166A230), Naval Reactors submitted an application for revision to certificate of compliance (CoC) No. 9186 for the Model No. S-6213 shipping container. The application includes a request to add the S1B power unit as a new authorized contents for the Model No. S-6213 shipping container.

This letter informs you that the application appears to contain the necessary information to begin our technical review. We have established a schedule for the technical review of your amendment request. We understand Naval Reactors has a need by date of February 1, 2025.

Please note that the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs technical review of your submittal may identify issues that could require that you provide additional information. Based on our preliminary evaluation and projection of current review schedules, we anticipate completing our formal review by December 2024. The schedule includes the issuance, if needed, of a request for additional information (RAI) by October 1, 2024, and, provided that we receive your responses to the RAI within 30 days after its issuance, we anticipate issuing the CoC/Safety Evaluation Report by January 2025. The NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will require approximately 1,057 staff hours. We will promptly communicate significant schedule and/or cost changes, if any.

Your application has been assigned Cost Activity Code/Enterprise Project Identification Number 001029/L-2024-LLA-0081. Please reference this number and Docket No. 71-9186 in any future correspondence associated with this request.
