Dear Recipients:
Solely as Trustee for the Cimarron Environmental Response Trust (CERT), Environmental Properties Management LLC (EPM) submits herein to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) the analytical results from the 2024 Annual Environmental Monitoring Program. Samples were collected and analyzed in accordance with Section 15 of the CERT Radiation Protection Plan (RPP).
Section 15 of the RPP specifies that groundwater samples are to be collected from 29 monitor wells and surface water samples are to be collected from two locations in the Cimarron River.
Samples were collected from April 16 through April 18, 2024.
Concentrations of uranium, nitrate, or fluoride that exceed either NRC or State criteria are highlighted. It looks like there are very few locations where either nitrate or fluoride exceed State criteria; this is due to the fact that the environmental monitoring program was intended to assess the extent of licensed material in the environment. Consequently, the majority of sample locations are within areas where uranium concentrations exceed the NRC criterion, extending downgradient from those locations.
With the exception of the surface water samples, the data is tabulated by remediation area as defined in Facility Decommissioning Plan - Rev 3, and within each remediation area, locations are generally arranged in order from upgradient to downgradient locations.
