Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at Donald C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Joseph Mancuso as the new senior resident inspector at the Donald C. Cook nuclear power plant. The two-unit plant in Bridgman, Michigan, is operated by Indiana Michigan Power Co.

We are pleased to have Joe become the new senior resident inspector at Cook. His familiarity with the plants reactor safety systems and technical nuclear operations makes him an ideal fit for this role, said NRC Region III Administrator Jack Giessner. His knowledge and experience will help ensure the plant continues to meet our regulations and nuclear safety is maintained.

Mancuso joined the NRC in 2012 as part of the resident inspector development program in Region III. Most recently, he was the resident inspector at the Cook nuclear power plant in Michigan. He was also a project engineer in Region III and has supported the agency in conducting inspections at various NRC licensed commercial power plants.

Prior to joining the agency, Mancuso earned a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
