Dear Dir. Ferkile:
Enclosed is an application (XCOM1327/01), dated May 29, 2024, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), from ATI Specialty Alloys and Components, requesting to amend export license XCOM1327. This license currently authorizes the export of 100,000 kilograms of Zircaloy Trex tubes to be used in the manufacturing of fuel bundles for use in the Embalse, Atucha I, Atucha II, and Carem-25 nuclear power plants in Argentina.
The purpose of the amendment is to: 1) increase the amount of Zircaloy Trex tubes by 95,000 kilograms, for a new total of 195,000 kilograms Zircaloy Trex tubes; and 2) extend the date of expiration from December 31, 2024, to December 31, 2027.
Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances from Argentina will be appreciated.
