Fish and Wildlife (FWS) about the Crystal River Unit 3 demolition activities, noise estimates, vibrations, herbicide usage, avian and wildlife protection, and best management practices.
The NRC staff understands that Northstar will provide relevant information to support the Section 7 consultation process.

- John, Below are the Fish and Wildlife Services concerns that NRC staff needs to address as much as
possible:
Demolition - Does ADP plan you use explosives, pile driving equipment? What does demolition look like, what equipment is used?
Noise-Does ADP have estimated noise levels for the type of construction activities they plan to take or procedural BMPs that NRC can reference demonstrating efforts to reduce noise below a certain level? Does APD have unattenuated single strike level (dB) estimates for:
Peak sound pressure level Single strike sound exposure level Root-mean-square sound pressure level Vibrations - Would demolition potentially generate vibrations in the water? Does demolition generate vibrations that are felt a distance from the site?
Herbicides - Does ADP currently use or plan to use herbicides for facility maintenance during the decommissioning period? If yes, please provide the best management practices that ADP would use for herbicide application.
Avian protection plan-Does ADP have an avian protection plan or a wildlife management plan? If yes, could a copy be made available to NRC, or a summary of measures that are used to limit wildlife impacts.
Best management practices - The LTP states that BMPs will be used to minimize impacts but does not provide which BMPs would be use. Please clarify what BMPs would be used to limit impacts that may affect Federally listed species.
What time of year will work occur?
In addition, I checked the availability of NRC staff for this meeting, and as of sending this invitation, all technical staff are available between 9 A.M. and noon on 5/20. Since the same cannot be said of the afternoon on 5/20, we can hopefully have this call in the morning.
