Enclosure TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL

SUMMARY

Date and Time: June 11, 2024; 4:00 PM Call

Participants:

American Centrifuge Operating (ACO) - Kelly Fitch, Robin Halverson, Stephen Howie, Christopher Brust, Mason Bridwell U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) - Yawar Faraz, Christine Pineda Discussion:

The NRC asked the following questions:

(1) How many ACO staff are now working at ACOs Piketon, Ohio facility; (2) How do the hydrofluoric acid (HF) emissions compare to the emissions projected in the NRCs 2021 Environmental Assessment; and (3) Would the rate of production change as a result of the proposed UF6 possession limit increase.

The answers to the questions were as follows:

(1) Currently there are 133 ACO staff employed at the Piketon site. This excludes ACO employees located at Centrus Oak Ridge and headquarters locations.

(2) ACO staff stated that, based on stoichiometric calculations for the estimated uranium releases, the average HF concentration for the maximally exposed individual between July and December 2023 was calculated to be 4.8 x 10-9 micrograms/m3. This is significantly lower than ACOs previously estimated concentration of 2.3 x 10-3 micrograms/m3. The NRC staff asked, although not required, whether ACO could include the calculated HF average concentration for the maximally exposed individual in future semi-annual effluent reports submitted to the NRC in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 70.59. ACO indicated that it will include the calculated HF concentration in future semi-annual effluent reports.

(3) ACO staff stated that the High Assay Low Enriched Uranium production rate would not be impacted by the proposed increase of the UF6 possession limit.
