VENDOR INSPECTION OF WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY -
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM AND TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 21 PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION
Dear Ms. Zozula:
This letter documents the United States (U.S.) Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs plan to perform an inspection of Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC)s facility at Warrendale, PA to review implementation of your quality assurance (QA) program in accordance with the requirements of Appendix B, Quality Assurance Program Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants, to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 50, Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities, and 10 CFR Part 21, Reporting of Defects and Noncompliance. Specifically, the QA and Part 21 program implementation will be reviewed as they pertain to WECs activities to support the development of the digital Plant Protection System (PPS) for Limerick Generating Station Units 1 and 2. This inspection will concentrate on activities and design outputs related to the Requirements Phase, and completed portions of the Design Phase, for the Limerick digital PPS development lifecycle. As discussed via electronic mail on February 9, 2024, the NRC inspection team plans to begin the inspection at 2 PM on Monday May 6, 2024, and will conduct the inspection through Friday, May 10, 2024. Subsequent to the inspection, a report will be issued and transmitted to you via letter.
