BRIEF STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONS The Committee provides advice, as requested by the Director, Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, with respect to the development of standards and criteria for the regulation and licensing of uses of radionuclides in human subjects. The Comnittee also provides advice and consultation on the qualifications of individual physicians who wish to be authorized to use radioactive materials, and on the human use of radioactive sources.

BRIEFSTATEMENTOFFuNcTioNs The Committee reviews safety studies and facility license applications ref~rred to it in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act and makes reports which are part of the public record of the proceeding. The Committee provides advice on the hazards of new or existing nuclear facilities and the adequacy of related safety standards. As directed by Public Law 95-209, the Committee conducts a continuing study of reactor safety research and also administers the ACRS Fellowship Program established by Public Law 95-209. The Committee submits an annual report to Congress on the status of the research effort. The Committee year terms by the Commission. The Committee annually elects its own Chairman and Vice performs such other duties as the Commission may request. The Members are appointed for four-
