Dear Ms. Ferkile:
Enclosed is an application, XSNM3843, accepted by the US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on February 28,2024, from U.S. Department of Energy for the export of 76.91 kg of uranium-235 contained in maximum of 385.50 kg of uranium, enriched up to 19.95%, in the form of either unalloyed broken metal or uranium molybdenum metal powder. The fuel is for irradiation in the HANARO research reactor and the Kijang research reactor, and for the commercial production of medical isotopes from monolithic or dispersion targets in the Republic of Korea.
Assurances from the Republic of Korea that the material will be subject to all the terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
