RIC 2024-CM25 Panel Abstract.docx Hello Miss Morris,

My name is Bennett McEllis, I work for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) within the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR). I am coordinating a panel discussion on the topic of Cobalt Magnet 25 (CM25) for the 2024 NRC Regulatory Information Conference.

Each Spring, the NRC hosts a large public meeting which brings together industry, regulator, public and the international community to discuss information on significant and timely nuclear regulatory activities and emergent issues. The 2024 Regulatory Information Conference will be held at the Bethesda North Marriot Hotel (Across the street from NRC HQ in Rockville, Maryland) from March 12th - 14th. More information on the conference can be found here: https://www.nrc.gov/public-involve/conference-symposia/ric/index.html.

This year, NSIR has submitted and had approved a panel session related to the upcoming CM25 Full Scale Exercise titled: Exploring the Advantages of a Collaborative Full-Scale Exercise Engagement. The abstract, describing this session in more detail, is attached.

If you are interested, wed love to have you to sit on the panel to represent Canadas involvement and to present your organizations perspective on the upcoming exercise.

We hope that each panelist will create a 15min presentation that touches on (at a high level) the following topics as they relate to your organization:

a. Background of organizational role in nuclear emergency response and recovery
b. Exercise Objectives for CM25
i. Possible gaps in current response and recovery procedures
c. Opportunities to practice unique/rarely exercised response and recovery capabilities that are only possible in a full-scale exercise like CM25.
d. Highlight Collaborative interactions with other Government entities, international partners, and non-government organizations.
e. Discuss the expected benefits to your organization and to the whole of the nuclear emergency preparedness and response enterprise.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending and I can pass along the formal invitation and relevant documents. Note that virtual attendance is possible, however in-person is greatly preferred.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
