©2024 Nuclear Energy Institute 1 Inspections of Centralized Programs ROP Public Meeting March 26, 2024
©2024 Nuclear Energy Institute 2 Multiple inspections during the year at a utility with a centralized program imposes undue burden on program staff and unnecessary overlap or duplication of effort by NRC inspectors.
Applicable to inspections of centrally-led programs, including:
- Security areas such as AA/FFD
- Cybersecurity
- 10 CFR 50.69 Inspections of Centralized Programs
©2024 Nuclear Energy Institute 3 Develop/update NRC guidance to provide flexibility in inspection planning for programs with centralized functions (e.g., IMC 2515, App A). Options could include:
- Allow subsequent inspections during the inspection cycle to credit inspection elements already completed.
- One entrance meeting for two or more sites, followed by sequential site-specific inspections
- One inspection with sampling of all sites (or multiple sites)
Efficiencies could be realized in inspection preparation Workshop to explore options in detail Recommendation
