IEMA-OHS review of Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact Related to Constellations Exemption Request for Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, from Certain Requirements in 10 CFR 72.212 and 10 CFR 72.214 By application dated February 23, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24054A031) and supplemented on February 28, 2024, and March 8, 2024 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML24065A292 and ML24068A069), Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, requested an exemption for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, from certain requirements in 10 CFR 72.212(a)(2), 72.212(b)(3), 72.212(b)(5)((i), 72.212(b)(11),
and 72.214 related to the HI-STORM 100 Cask System.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) provided the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) the opportunity to review and comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
IEMA-OHS appreciates the opportunity to comment on the draft EA and FONSI. The IEMA-OHS staff has completed the reviewed of the draft EA and FONSI. Based on the review by the IEMA-OHS staff, IEMA-OHS agrees with the NRCs conclusion that there would be no significant environmental impacts associated with the proposed action.
