Rod Ejection Accident Methodology Topical Report, TR-0716-50350, Schedule Update on Final Safety Evaluation On January 4, 2024, the NRC transmitted the advanced safety evaluation report (ASER) documenting the staff's review of Topical Report (TR)-0716-50350, Revision 3, Rod Ejection Accident Methodology."
During the full committee meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) on February 7, 2024, the ACRS voted to approve the staff's SE TR. This decision will be documented in the ACRS monthly summary report.
The next step is for the staff to issue the final safety evaluation. As discussed with NuScale prior to publishing the ASER, the staff will issue the final safety evaluation once the staff completes their review of "Non-Loss-of-Coolant Accident Analysis Methodology," TR-0516-49416, Revision 4 and "Loss-of-Coolant Accident Evaluation Model," TR-0516-49422, Revision 3. These TRs are currently under staff review and are key references in TR-0716-50350, Revision 3. To ensure that the staff's final safety evaluation for TR-0716-50350, Revision 3 refers to the final revision of each of the aforementioned TRs, staff plans transmit the final safety evaluation for TR-0716-50350, Revision 3 by November 27, 2024, which coincides with the schedule for issuance of the ASER for TR-0516-49416, Revision 4 and TR-0516-49422, Revision 3. This new schedule was discussed with Wren Fowler on February 23, 2024.
