[External_Sender] Public Comment The reactor pressure vessel for Unit 1 at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant is said to be severely embrittlement. It must be shut down NOW and tested by an independent team. PG&E should restart it if and only when the vessels integrity has been confirmed. Obviously, as it stands, PG&E and the NRC have shown they do not care about the safety of the hundreds of thousands of lives and livelihoods that would be affected should there be a major accident stemming from an embrittlement reactor vessel.
This is absolutely unacceptable.
Furthermore, there has never been a realistic emergency plan. As we have seen, as recently as January 1 of this year in Japan, when there is a large enough earthquake to damage a nuclear power plant, it would have also destroyed homes and infrastructure. Shelter in place in a home without windows, roofs, walls, etc. is a terrible joke. Evacuation with des5oyed roads and bridges is an impossibility.
Both units at DCPP need to be shut down until you can get a real emergency plan in place.
You are responsible for the safety of the public not the profit margins of a utility.
