Dave Gasperson, 404-997-4417 NRC Names Senior Resident Inspector at Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Amber Donley as the new senior resident inspector at the Turkey Point nuclear power plant. The plant, operated by Florida Power & Light Co., is located near Homestead, Florida.
Donley joined the NRC in 2020 as a project engineer in the Region IV office in Arlington, Texas. She has served as a resident inspector at Columbia Generating Station in Washington and as acting resident inspector at the Grand Gulf, Callaway, and Catawba nuclear power plants.
Before the NRC, Donley was a staff chemist at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. She holds a doctorate in analytical radiochemistry from Washington State University and a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan.
Amber's distinguished academic background in nuclear engineering and analytical radiochemistry, along with her experience in the nuclear sector, make her exceptionally qualified for her new role at Turkey Point, said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes. Her blend of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in the private sector and the NRC underscores her commitment to maintaining the highest safety and security standards.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
