Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at LaSalle County Station The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Jennifer L. Meszaros as the new NRC resident inspector at the LaSalle nuclear power plant in Marseilles, Illinois. The plant is operated by Constellation Energy Company.
Meszaros joined the NRCs Region III office in 2022. While taking part in an extensive inspector qualification program, she served as the acting resident inspector at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant and participated in inspections at Region III plants.
Prior to joining the agency, Meszaros held increasingly responsible positions at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, including leading research work on used commercial nuclear fuel disposition and managing a nuclear safety analysis team at the laboratory research reactor. She also worked for the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board, serving as resident inspector at the Oak Ridge Reservation and as a project manager in charge of oversight of the Hanford Reservation waste operations. Meszaros also worked as a pressurized water reactor core design engineer for Dominion Resources Services.
Jennifer came to the NRC with a wealth of experience, including her service as resident inspector at the Oak Ridge Reservation. Her extensive knowledge and expertise in the nuclear field, coupled with her ability to carry out the agencys safety mission, make her a great addition to the resident inspector office at LaSalle, said Region III Administrator Jack Giessner.
Meszaros earned a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering from Purdue University and a masters in nuclear environmental protection from the Catholic University of America.
Meszaros joins Senior Resident Inspector Jamie Benjamin at LaSalle. Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
