No: 23-054 August 30, 2023 CONTACT: Scott Burnell, 301-415-8200 NRC Hosting Forum on Risk-Informed Decision Making September 12 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is hosting a forum September 12 on the benefits of using risk insights to support decision making for operating, new, and advanced reactors. The hybrid event will take place at the agencys headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, and will be webcast for online attendees, from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.

The forum will be held in the Commission Hearing Room in One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike in Rockville for those participating in person. Virtual participants can attend using this link.

Forum participants will examine how risk-informed decision making is applied to nuclear power plant activities. Specific topics will include current risk-informed decision-making successes at the NRC and elsewhere; managing uncertainty; incorporating risk-informed decision making into an organizations culture; and applying risk to licensing of operating, new and advanced reactors. Presenters will include NRC staff and representatives of federal agencies, industry and academia.
