THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION RESPONSE TO SOUTHERN NUCLEAR COMPANY, EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT AND VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENREATING PLANT TRIENNIAL U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION-EVALUATED FORCE-ON-FORCE INSPECTION DATE CHANGE REQUEST

Dear Matthew Grantham:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff received your email titled FOF schedule change (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System accession number ML ML24046A048) and reviewed the information contained within. Your email stated that Edwin I.

Hatch Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2, is formally requesting a date change to the NRC-evaluated force-on-force (FOF) due to resource hardships at Plant Hatch during the current scheduled timeframe in 2025. In reply to your e-mail, the Site Security Director at Vogtle confirmed that the requested swap was mutually beneficial to Vogtle.

The staff determined that Plant Hatchs request to swap the NRC-evaluated FOF inspection dates of Plant Hatch and Plant Vogtle is reasonable, and therefore approves the new schedule accordingly. Plant Hatchs currently scheduled NRC-evaluated FOF inspection in November/December 2025 will be subsequently rescheduled to June 2025; Plant Vogtles currently scheduled NRC-evaluated FOF inspection in June 2025 will be subsequently rescheduled to November/December 2025.
