[External_Sender] It's time to close Diablo Canyon nuclear plant Please close Diablo Canyon. California doesnt need Diablos power, nor the risk of a horrible nuclear failure.
PG&E has repeatedly demonstrated a criminal lack of maintenance. For decades they paid shareholders profits while lying to the public. We cant trust them to safely renovate the aging Diablo Canyons brittle pressure vessel or the outdated cooling system. The $6 billion needed to prop up this dinosaur should go to developing clean energy that doesnt leave tons of toxic waste to burden future generations.
California needs to reimagine power. Remotely located Diablo Canyon perpetuates dependence on a fragile and unreliable power grid. Instead, localized micro-grids provide a more reliable solution that doesnt require expensive, high-maintenance long-distance transmission. California has ample sunshine to generate electricity WHERE it is used - with solar on parking lots and existing roofs - and reduce dependence on the old grid.
