Ben Oakley Arroyo Grande, CA February 8, 2024 U. S. Nuclear Energy Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 To Whom It May Concern:

I write this letter in support of the license renewal application for the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. I am a resident of Arroyo Grande, California, where I live with my wife and our 11-year-old son. We have lived in South San Luis Obispo County, in close proximity to Diablo Canyon, for over 15 years.

It is hard to express the degree to which the regional economy relies on the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. Its my understanding that the power plant operator, PG&E, is the largest private employer in the County. The power plant provides critical high-paying jobs for local families.

My family can certainly attest to these facts. We know multiple families at our sons public elementary school who work at Diablo either full-time or on a part-time basis during the refueling outages to earn a little extra income. These are not just numbers on a spreadsheet, but real hard-working local families who rely on the power plant for their livelihoods. Please extend the license so that these families can continue to be a part of our community.

I recently had the opportunity to tour the Diablo Power Plant as part of a business group. I was impressed by the professionalism and diligence of the plant leadership and employees. They appeared to be an extremely thoughtful, careful, and organized group of people. I feel confidence in their leadership and ability to continue to safely provide clean power to California, while safeguarding the amazing coastal natural resources and local communities, for decades to come.

From an energy standpoint, Diablo Canyon is absolutely critical to maintain a reliable and affordable supply of clean power to California. At a time when California is already feeling the effects of a limited energy supply, we must continue to avail ourselves of this tremendous asset.

During my recent tour, I was amazed at the scale of the investment we have collectively made in this facility. One needs to actually walk through the building that houses the turbines to understand the magnitude. So much has been invested in this critical facility over the years. It doesnt make any sense stop making reliable power at this facility now. Please keep the power plant open to continue providing power to the state and jobs to the local families for years to come.

I urge you to approve the relicensing application.

Sincerely, Ben Oakley Arroyo Grande, CA
