[External_Sender] Diablo Canyon Hearing

I am sorry that I cannot attend the meeting in person, however, I want to add my voice to the others that support keeping the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power plant operating.

I think it is important to keep in mind that:

1. Eliminating the single largest source of clean energy just makes no sense.

California prides itself on being a leader in clean energy, closing would be a step backwards in terms of clean, efficient energy generation.

2. Along these lines, California and the nation, are headed toward an all electric vehicle future. How are these vehicles going to be recharged?
3. Solar panels are great for home use, but large solar farms for mass power generation are an inefficient use of space. How much area would be needed to replace the output of Diablo Canyon?
4. For all the people who clamor to close the plant, they offer no solution on what can replace the power output at the same time it is lost. This most certainly would lead to an increase of rolling brown/black outs during the hotter summer months.
5. The economic impact of the plant remaining open is a plus for the region.
a. The hypocrisy of the government officials who pushed to have the plant closed but were first in line with their hands out for economic impact funds when it was going to close is not lost on me or others in the community. Sorry, this does not relate to the issue at hand but I had to vent.

Really, other than finding ways to recycle/reuse the spent fuel, this shouldnt even be a discussion until a clean replacement power source can be developed and delivered for service. Until then, it is in the best interests of the people of California to keep Diablo Canyon open and operating.

Thank you for taking the time to review my comments.
