and Investigations

AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

ACTION: Notice of submission to the Office of Management and Budget; r equest for

comment.

SUMMARY

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has recently subm itted a

request for renewal of an existing collection of information to the Office of Management

and Budget (OMB) for review. The information collection is enti tled, Notices,

Instructions, and Reports to Workers: Inspection and Investigat ions.

DATES: Submit comments by April 12, 2024. Comments received after thi s date will be

considered if it is practical to do so, but the Commission is a ble to ensure consideration

only for comments received on or before this date.

II. Background

Under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter

35), the NRC recently submitted a request for renewal of an exi sting collection of

information to OMB for review entitled, Notices, Instructions, and Reports to Workers:

Inspection and Investigations. The NRC hereby informs potentia l respondents that an

agency may not conduct or sponsor, and that a person is not req uired to respond to, a

collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number.

The NRC published a Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment period on 3

this information collection on November 13, 2023, 88 FR 77619.

1. The title of the information collection: Notices, Instructions, and Reports to

Workers: Inspection and Investigations.

2. OMB approval number: 3150-0044.
3. Type of submission: Extension.
4. The form number, if applicable: Not applicable.
5. How often the collection is required or requested: As necessary in order that

adequate and timely reports of radiation exposure be made to in dividuals involved in

applicable NRC-licensed activities.

6. Who will be required or asked to respond: Licensees authorized to receive,

possess, use, or transfer material licensed by the NRC.

7. The estimated number of annual responses: 1,889,382 (7 Reporting + 18,200

Recordkeeping + 1,871,174.88 Third-party disclosures).

8. The estimated number of annual respondents: 18,200 (2,200 NRC + 16,000

Agreement States).

9. The estimated number of hours needed annually to comply with the

information collection requirement or request: 544,899 (3.5 Reporting + 18,200

Recordkeeping + 521,337.9 Third-party disclosures + 5,358 One-t ime burden).

10. Abstract: Part 19 of title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations establishes

requirements for notices, instructions, and reports by licensee s and regulated entities to

individuals participating in NRC-licensed and regulated activit ies and options available to

these individuals in connection with Commission inspections of licensees and regulated

entities, and to ascertain compliance with the provisions of th e Atomic Energy Act of

1954, as amended, titles II and IV of the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974, and

regulations, orders, and licenses thereunder. The regulations i n this part also establish 4

the rights and responsibilities of the Commission and individua ls during interviews

compelled by subpoena as part of the agencys inspections or in vestigations under

section 161c of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, on a ny matter within the

Commissions jurisdiction.
