Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing in support of the Dominion Energy - V. C. Summer Nuclear Plant, Jenkinsville, SC relicense application.
Dominion Energy after SCE&G has been a good corporate partner here in Fairfield County. V.
C. Summer Unit One has operated here for over 40 years. Dominion Energy has addresses issues pertinent to the community such as safety and have strived to keep the community informed of environmental concerns.
Dominion provides recreational opportunities for fishing, boating and swimming. Homeowners along the lake enjoy beautiful views and adhere to standard shoreline management practices.
Dominion Energy employs residents who in turn volunteer and financially support community groups and organizations. Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) tours for students, high school student newspaper financial support, Palmetto Trail trash cleanups and Meals on Wheels deliveries are just a few examples of community involvement.
Dominion Energy serves as an asset when industry is looking to locate in Fairfield County. They are highlighted as an integral part of our Economic Development team when examples of a highly trained workforce are needed.
The recent settlement provides expansion of economic viability for Fairfield County such as a wastewater treatment plant, grading of industrial site, speculative building construction and bond restructuring. Finally, they are large contributors to our tax base.
I appreciate the opportunity to highlight the importance of Dominion Energy and V. C. Summer Nuclear Power Station to generate electricity now and in the future.
