The purpose of this e-mail is to update the plan for the ongoing pre-application readiness assessment for the proposed GE-Hitachi (GEH) Licensing Topical Report (LTR) NEDC-33934P, BWRX-300 Safety Strategy. On July 7, 2023, MJ Jardaneh provided a Readiness Assessment Engagement Plan (ADAMS Accession No. ML23188A095). GEH made Draft Revision A of this LTR available to the NRC staff through the GEH electronic reading room (eRR) on July 24, 2023, and the staff held a partially closed familiarization meeting with GEH on July 26, 2023. After you informed us that GEH intends to make further changes to some portions of the draft LTR, the NRC staff held a virtual preliminary feedback meeting on October 2, 2023, and provided GEH some preliminary observations on Draft Revision A of the LTR. In that meeting, you indicated that GEH intends to provide responses to those preliminary observations and a revised draft LTR via the eRR. More recently, you have notified us that you intend to provide these responses and the revised draft LTR via the eRR in January 2024. As such, the NRC staff will keep this Readiness Assessment activity open, though pausing the staffs review until the revised draft LTR and responses are provided. We will provide a revised Readiness Assessment Engagement Plan when the revised draft LTR is made available for review.
