NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ACCEPTANCE OF THE REVISED LONG-TERM SURVEILLANCE PLAN FOR THE SLICK ROCK, COLORADO, DISPOSAL SITE (DOCKET WM-00086)
Dear Meghann Hurt:
I am writing in response to the U.S. Department of Energys (DOEs) request for the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) acceptance of the revised Long-Term Surveillance Plan (LTSP) for the Slick Rock, Colorado site, dated April 2023 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML23096A317). The revised LTSP has been updated to remove standpipe sampling requirements previously approved by the NRC, as well as change the site name and update coordinates to site surveillance features. An emergency response section was also added to the LTSP to comply with DOE Order 151.1D, Comprehensive Emergency Management System requirements. The revised LTSP is being submitted to the NRC for acceptance pursuant to the NRCs regulations summarized in 10 CFR 40.27.
The NRC staff has reviewed the LTSP and does not have any comments or questions.
Therefore, we accept the revised LTSP. The NRC staff has determined that this action is categorically excluded pursuant to the NRCs regulations at 10 CFR 51.22.c.11 and therefore, an environmental assessment was not performed to support the acceptance of the revised LTSP.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
