TERRAPOWER, LLC - U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF FEEDBACK REGARDING WHITE PAPER: PRELIMINARY CONSENSUS CODES AND STANDARDS, REVISION 0 (EPID NO. L-2023-LRO-0045)
Dear Mr. Wilson:
By letter dated May 10, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML23130A413), TerraPower, LLC (TerraPower) submitted a white paper titled, Preliminary Consensus Codes and Standards, Revision 0, for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs review. This white paper describes the consensus codes and standards and code cases that TerraPower intends to use for the Natrium reactor design. The NRC staff was asked to perform a review of this white paper and provide feedback on the areas where additional information may be needed in a future license application to support the use of a standard or code case not previously accepted by the NRC staff. The NRC staff has completed its review of the submittal. The enclosure of this letter provides the NRC staffs feedback and observations on the white paper.
