The attached notice was emailed to the community of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan on July 26, 2023. The notice concerns a "planned maintenance project involving campus research equipment...done in conjunction with local, state and federal agencies." The project involves completely closing down several campus buildings and adjoining roads on August 2nd. The notice advises that "additional measures, including added building and road closures" may be necessaiy, and says that "campus community members ai*e directed to stay ale1i for campuswide communications sent on Wednesday." The notice does not share any fmther info1mation about the nature of this project.
The nature of this project is oflegitimate interest for the local community, paiticulai*ly those who spend time in and ai*ound the affected areas on campus. The notice mentioned that federal agencies ai*e involved; is the Nucleai* Regulato1y Commission among those federal agencies that are involved in the project? If so, please shai*e any documents that would help the public understand exactly what work is being perfo1med, what materials ai*e involved, and what precautions are being taken to safeguard the public.
