The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meetings in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ADAMS Accession No. ML21180A271). The main point of discussion during the meeting revolved around the expected content of the preliminary safety analysis report Chapter 5, Safety Functions, Design Criteria, and Structures, Systems, and Components Safety Classification.
Specifically, X-energy staff discussed how the content aligns with applicable guidance. For example, for Section 5.3, Principal Design Criteria, X-energy staff stated that the format for this section will differ from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) guidance in NEI 21-07, Technology Inclusive Guidance for Non-Light Water Reactors.
