MEMORANDUM OF APPRECIATION I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to you and your staff for supporting recent training on the Radiological System for Consequence Analysis (RASCAL). On October 11-12, Jeff Kowalczik, took time out of his busy schedule to provide instruction to over 20 members of the emergency response community. The class included members of the NRC emergency response organization, representatives from the State of New Jersey and representatives from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I believe that including state representatives in the training aided in strengthening the partnerships we have with these external stakeholders. These partnerships are a key component which are important to maintaining the response readiness of our community.
During the 2-day course, students received experience with the RASCAL code and worked thru workbook problems that were designed to familiarize users with the RASCAL software through hands-on problem solving. Jeff Kowalczik carefully supervised the students. The training that was provided has most certainly strengthened the skill set of the Federal / state emergency response community Thank you for your continued support of our shared mission which is protecting public health and safety.
