SECOND REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE REVIEW OF THE MODEL NO. OPTIMUS-H PACKAGE

Dear Heath Baldner:

By letter dated December 22, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System

[ADAMS] Accession No. ML21361A089), NAC International (NAC) submitted an application for approval of the Model No. OPTIMUS-H radioactive material transport package (Optimal Modular Universal Shipping cask for High activity contents). On October 4, 2022, the application was accepted for a detailed technical review (ADAMS No. ML22270A156). On May 5, 2023, (ADAMS No. ML23128A028, ML23128A029, and ML23128A030), NAC submitted its responses to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staffs request for additional information (RAI) letter dated March 6, 2023 (ADAMS No. ML23061A139).

This letter is to advise you that the information needed to continue our review is described in the enclosure to this letter. Please note that your RAI responses should be provided by November 15, 2023. If the RAI responses are not received by this date, the staff may discontinue any further review.

Please reference Docket No. 71-9392 and Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) No. L-2022-NEW-0000 in future correspondence related to this request.
