Subject:

Request for Approval of Intrusion Detection Installer and Equipment In accordance with 32CFR117.15(d)(l) and (d)(4), Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) is requesting approval for an Intrusion Detection System (IDS).

1. CSA approval is required before installing an IDS.
2. Any IDE that has not been tested and approved by an NRTL will require CSA approval.
3. The IDS will be installed by an NRTL-approved entity or by an entity approved in writing by the CSA.

GLE is constructing a classified machine shop and Headquarters (HQ). An IDS will be installed. This installation is expected to start around October 1. NRC approval prior to installing is required.

Some of the equipment being used has not been tested by an NRTL lab. The list of equipment and equipment vendors is in Enclosure 1. NRC approval of the non-NRTL tested equipment is required.

Security 2000 {52K) is our vendor. They have installed the IDS for the GLE TL and FGE buildings. They have experience with military installations and SCIFs. The new HQ facility secufity officers and the current TL officers will be using the same IDS systems as installed by S2K. This common use equipment and experience with the current equipment is important to our plan of redundancy. S2K is not currently an NRTL-approved entity and requires NRC approval. GLE has compared the planned IDS to UL2050 standards. That comparison is provided in Enclosure l.
