- 2. BWXT Advanced Technologies, LLC (BWXT) Project Pele Update to Letter of Intent, May 23, 2023 NAC International Inc. (NAC) has been contracted by BWXT to perform the design analysis, risk assessments, testing, and draft the Safety Analysis Report to support the authorization to transport the DOD Pele Prototype Reactor. BWXT previously provided notification, pursuant to 10 CFR Part ( c)
(References 1 and 2) under Docket Number 71-9396, of their intent to start long lead procurements and packaging fabrication at their Lynchburg facility. Now that NAC will be submitting the application, we are requesting that a new Part 71 Docket Number be issued to NAC.
NAC International Inc. (NAC), is hereby, notifying the NRC of the projects intent to begin executing long lead procurements and fabrication activities as required by 10 CFR 71.93(c), that a CoC holder shall notify the NRC 45-days in advance of starting fabrication of the first packaging under a CoC. The scope and responsibilities of the project were defined by BWXT in Reference 2. Based on this plan NAC will utilize our Quality Assurance Program (QAP) which meets the requirements of 10 CFR 71, Subpart H for our scope of the project.
Prior submitting the application, pre-application kickoff meeting will be coordinated with the NRC Project Manager.
