Dear Ms. Ferkile:
Enclosed is an application, accepted by the US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on July 26, 2023, from TN Americas LLC., requesting an amendment to their current active license, XSNM3814/01. The current license authorizes the export of low-enriched uranium in the form of unalloyed broken metal to Belgium for medical isotope production at the Institute for Radioelements (IRE).
The purpose of this amendment is to (1) increase the quantity of material from 109.5 kgs of Uranium (U), containing 21.85 kgs of U-235 enriched at 19.95%, to a new cumulative total of 216.0 kgs of U, containing 43.1 kgs of U-235 enriched to 19.95%; (2) extending the expiration date from October 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025; and (3) make minor corrections to names and addresses of the Intermediate Consignees.
Assurances from EURATOM that the material will be subject to all the terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
Sincerely, 8/2/2023 X Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst Signed by: Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst, Chief Export Controls and Non-Proliferation Branch Office of International Programs cc w/enclosures:
