ISSUANCE OF THE PRE-APPLICATION READINESS ASSESSMENT
SUMMARY
REPORT FOR SELECTED SECTIONS OF THE CARBON FREE POWER PROJECT DRAFT LIMITED WORK AUTHORIZATION AND COMBINED LICENSE APPLICATION ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTS In letters dated February 23, 2023, NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to conduct a partial preapplication readiness assessment of selected sections of the Carbon Free Power Project draft Limited Work Authorization1 and Combined License Application2 Environmental Report prior to planned submittals in July 2023 and January 2024, respectively.
In a letter dated March 14, 20233, NRC agreed to conduct this phased readiness assessment and to provide a summary report of observations from each phase after the final assessment had been concluded. The final readiness assessment phase (Phase 3) was closed out on June 16, 2023.
A report summarizing each phase of the readiness assessment is enclosed to this letter. Included with this report as Enclosure 1 are tables that provide greater detail on logistics of the assessment as well as the NRC staffs observations from each phase of the readiness assessment.
