FRN on Hermes 2 receipt of application.pdf Mr. Hastings,
By letter dated July 14, 2023, you submitted a construction permit application for a two-unit test reactor facility to be located in Oak, Ridge, Tennessee. This proposed facility is designated as Hermes 2. In your letter you stated that you were submitting the application pursuant to the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 50, Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities. The construction permit application is in support of an eventual filing of an application for a Class 104c facility operating license for Hermes 2.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff acknowledges receipt of your application and is reviewing the application to determine its acceptability for docketing. The staff plans to make this determination by September 11, 2023, and will communicate with you if issues arise during this review.
Attached is the notice that was forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register to inform the public of receipt and availability of the application.
If the Hermes 2 application is found to be acceptable for review, the application will be docketed and a schedule for review of the Hermes 2 application will be provided within a few weeks of the notification of acceptance.
If you have any questions, please contact me at Michael.Orenak@nrc.gov.
