PUBLIC MEETING
SUMMARY
- 2023 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING REGARDING THE SAINT LUCIE NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2, DOCKET NO. 50-335 AND 389, AND THE TURKEY POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION UNITS 3 AND 4, DOCKET NO. 50-250 AND 50-251. MEETING NUMBER 20230594.
On May 18, 2023, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual public meeting concerning the annual assessment of the Saint Lucie and Turkey Point nuclear plants. The purpose of the meeting was to provide opportunities for the public to discuss the annual assessment of the Saint Lucie and Turkey Point plants for the period of January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.
The public meeting was held remotely through the Microsoft Teams application. Additionally, a call-only telephone bridge line was available. The following documents related to the meeting are available in ADAMS: Meeting Notice (ML23124A351), Annual Assessment Letter Accession No. ML23055B019 for St Lucie and Accession No. ML23055B054 for Turkey Point.

The meeting was conducted from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM local time. There were 21 attendees, which consisted of representatives from the NRC, Florida Power and Light, Florida state government, and members of the public. Due to the nature of the meeting, no official list of attendees was recorded. NRC staff were available for questions following each presentation.
There was minimal interaction with the public, consistent with the normal meetings conducted near the stations. There was a comment from a member of the public stating that safety conscious work environment (SCWE) should be a cornerstone in the in the reactor oversight process rather than a cross-cutting area. The member of the public was referred to the Petition for Rulemaking Process.
