OF MAY 31, 2023, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS SECTIONS OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF TEST, RESEARCH AND TRAINING REACTORS, INC. PROPOSED NEI 23-03 GUIDANCE ON THE 50.59 PROCESS FOR DIGITAL APPLICATIONS (EPID: L-2023-NFG-0002)
On May 31, 2023, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML23124A308), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a public meeting with the National Organization of Test, Research, and Training Reactors (TRTR) staff to discuss endorsement of Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) 23-03. A list of attendees is provided as an enclosure to this memorandum.
During the meeting, NRC and TRTR representatives had a thorough discussion on Section 1 and Section 2 of the NEI 23-03 document. Representatives at the meeting also established a schedule to review additional sections with a public meeting occurring approximately monthly. The NRC staff confirmed that the fee exemption requested by NEI (ML23110A674) was granted and provided an update on the acknowledgement letter accepting NEI 23-03 into the NRC process for endorsement (ML23110A797). There was one public member present in the meeting. They did not ask any questions or provide any comments.
