VENDOR INSPECTION OF ANSYS QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM AND TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 21 PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION
Dear Mr. Wild:
This letter documents the United States (U.S.) Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs plan to perform an inspection of the Ansys quality assurance (QA) program implementation in accordance with the requirements of Appendix B, Quality Assurance Program Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants, to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 50, Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities, and 10 CFR Part 21, Reporting of Defects and Noncompliance. Specifically, the QA and Part 21 program implementation, will be reviewed as they pertain to Ansys control of design, development, and testing activities for software used in safety-related applications at nuclear power plants. As discussed during a teleconference call on May 17, 2023, the inspectors plan to begin the inspection on Monday, June 26, 2023, and will conduct the inspection through Friday, June 30, 2023. Subsequent to the inspection, a report will be issued and transmitted to you via letter.
