NRC Resident Inspectors live in the local communities and perform inspection activities at Browns Ferry, Sequoyah and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants

NRC Annual Assessment Summary Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant
TVA operated the plant safely and in a manner that preserved the public health and safety and protected the environment.
Browns Ferry Units 1, 2, and 3 were in Licensee Response Column of the NRCs ROP Action Matrix for Calendar Year (CY) 2022.
Seven Non-cited violations (NCVs) were identified in CY 2022.
All Performance Indicators were Green (no performance thresholds exceeded).
NRC had planned baseline inspection at Browns Ferry for 2023.
NRC Annual Assessment Summary Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant
On May 8, 2023, the NRC issued, Browns Ferry Unit 1 - Final Significance Determination for White Finding, Notice of Violation and Assessment Follow-up Letter (ML23115A000) associated with the failure of a High Pressure Core Injection pump electronic governor in July 2022.
Browns Ferry Unit 1 entered the Regulatory Response Column of the ROP Action Matrix beginning the First Quarter of 2023 based upon the inspection exit date in January 2023.
In 2023, Browns Ferry Unit 1 will receive increased oversight in the form of an Inspection Procedure 95001 Supplemental Inspection.
NRC Annual Assessment Summary Sequoyah Nuclear Plant
TVA operated the plant safely and in a manner that preserved the public health and safety and protected the environment.
Sequoyah Units 1 and 2 were in the Licensee Response Column (Column
- 1) for CY 2022
One Preliminary Greater than Green and Apparent Violation, 4 Green NCVs, and one Finding were identified in CY 2022.
All Performance Indicators were Green (no performance thresholds exceeded).
NRC Annual Assessment Summary Sequoyah Nuclear Plant
On April 20, 2023, the NRC issued, Sequoyah Units 1&2 Final Significance Determination for a Security-Related Greater than Green Finding, Notice of Violation and Assessment Follow-up Letter (ML23103A395) associated with an event in the fourth calendar quarter of 2022.
Sequoyah Units 1&2 entered the Regulatory Response Column of the ROP Action Matrix beginning the Fourth Quarter of 2022 based upon the inspection exit date in the fourth calendar quarter of 2022.
In 2023, Sequoyah Units 1&2 will receive increased oversight in the form of an Supplemental Inspection.
