Dear Messrs. Damiani,
Horberg, and Evans:
Based on the results of the 2022 Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program, the New York Agreement State Program (New York) was placed on Heightened Oversight and required to develop a Program Improvement Plan (PIP). On March 13, 2023, New York submitted a PIP (ML23073A216) specifying the actions to address performance issues identified during the 2022 IMPEP review. The PIP also contains estimated completion dates, where available, and specifies clear roles and responsibilities. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRC) has reviewed the PIP and determined that it adequately addresses the performance issues identified during the 2022 IMPEP review.
March 15, 2023
Messrs. Damiani, Horberg, and Evans 2
The initial bimonthly status call between the NRC and New York is scheduled to be conducted on April 5, 2023. Please submit any PIP status updates to your Regional State Agreements Officer, Farrah Gaskins, at least five days prior to this and each subsequent call at Farrah.Gaskins@NRC.gov.
If there are any questions regarding this correspondence, please contact me at Theresa.Clark@nrc.gov.
Sincerely, Theresa Clark, Director Division of Materials Safety, Security, State, and Tribal Programs Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards cc:
