Preliminary Questions on Revision 1 of Kairos Metallic Materials Qualification Topical Report Date:

Wednesday, October 13, 2021 2:59:00 PM

Dear Mr. Price and Mr. Gardner,

By letter dated June 30, 2021, Kairos Power, LLC (Kairos) submitted Revision 1 of the Metallic Materials Qualification for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Reactor Topical Report for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review. Based on the review of the revised report and the materials provided via the ERR, the NRC staff has developed a set of preliminary questions to improve the NRC staffs understanding of the changes included in Revision 1, as well as the new information presented.

The NRC staff requests that Kairos propose times to discuss the preliminary questions submitted via NRC Box email, in a public meeting, which may be closed, as appropriate, to discuss proprietary information. In some instances, preliminary questions may support future requests for additional information (RAIs). Kairos will be advised of the need for RAIs by separate correspondence.

The questions are transmitted through the following NRC BOX link. Please acknowledge receipt of this email and access to the link.

If you have any questions or need clarifications on the preliminary questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards, Richie
