Thank you for providing the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with the opportunity to review and comment on the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) draft report GAO-23-105813, Fusion Energy: Potentially Transformative Technology Still Faces Fundamental Challenges, which the NRC received on February 21, 2023. The NRC has reviewed the draft report and, while in general agreement with its contents, is providing comments in the enclosure to this letter to clarify the characterization of NRC responsibilities and activities discussed in the report.
