Request for Additional Information (Acc. # ML19128A342) Response Time Extension To Whom It May Concern, On 5 June 2019, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sent a Request for Additional Information (RAI) to the Kansas State University nuclear reactor facility (license R-88, docket 50-188) regarding a license amendment request (LAR) to add up to four 12%-loaded fuel elements to the core (Acc. #

ML1219A063).

This letter is providing an update to the estimated timeline for response. Results of the neutronics investigation were received on 19 January 2023. As mentioned in a previous letter, an estimate of four months would be needed to complete the thermal-hydraulics analysis following completion of the neutronics analysis. Unfortunately, the facility has lost faculty and other personnel resources within the department that were assisting with the thermal hydraulics work.
