STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: AUDIT OF THE NRCS PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION PROGRAM (OIG-22-A-05)
REFERENCE:
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, OFFICE OF THE CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, MEMORANDUM DATED JANUARY 31, 2023 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated January 31, 2023.
Based on this response, recommendation 1 remains in open resolved status and recommendation 3 is now closed. Recommendations 2 and 4 were closed previously.
Please provide an update on the status of the open and resolved recommendations by July 31, 2023.

Audit Report AUDIT OF THE NRCS PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION PROGRAM Status of Recommendations (OIG-22-A-05)
Recommendation 1: Update agency guidance to fully reflect and comply with federal guidance.
Agency Response Dated January 31, 2023: The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is in the process of updating Management Directive (MD) 14.2, Relocation Allowances. As part of the update, staff is thoroughly reviewing the relocation process to revise for efficiencies and will ensure that MD 14.2 fully reflects these updates while complying with federal guidance.
Estimated Completed Date: September 30, 2023, currently under comment review.
OIG Analysis: The proposed actions meet the intent of the recommendation. The OIG will close the recommendation when the NRC updates agency guidance to fully reflect and comply with federal guidance.
Status: Open: Resolved.

Recommendation 3: Develop and implement a policy to periodically review relocation guidance to ensure the full compliance with federal guidance and alignment with current agency practices.
Agency Response Dated January 31, 2023: Completed. OCFO will update the Change of Station guidance yearly, as changes are provided by General Service Administration on any updates to the Federal Travel Regulations and as needed based on Agency changes.
